Blade and Silk

Blade and Silk is a samurai dress up game in six chapters, two each for Hana, Kenji and Rin.

The odd ones are a mirror: brows as five shapes before they are three colours, and eyeshadow, lashes and blush shown as swatches rather than named, so you pick the plum you want instead of guessing. The even ones are a wardrobe, fifty-six outfits between the three, seven hairstyles each.

Kenji is the exception at both ends. His mirror offers no lipstick and no lashes, and his wardrobe trades the earrings and chains for six weapons, from a sheathed sword to a sickle on a chain.

At the end the three stand together in one room, six to pick from.

How to play Blade and Silk

Take the chapters in order. Each character gets a mirror first and a wardrobe second, because the face carries into the outfit and not the other way round. The dice fills a chapter at random if you would rather edit than start from nothing, and the round arrow resets only the chapter you are in. The camera opens the last screen at any point. It holds whichever outfits you have finished, so it is worth opening twice.

Frequently asked questions

How many characters can I dress up?

Three. Hana, Kenji and Rin, and each of them gets a makeup chapter and an outfit chapter, so six in all.

Which one gets the weapons?

Kenji, in chapter four. Six of them, and he is the only one of the three who carries anything. The two women get earrings and chains instead.

How many samurai outfits are there?

Fifty-six across the three wardrobe chapters, plus seven hairstyles, hair pieces and accessories for each character.

Is it free, and does it work on a phone?

Free, no account and no download, and it is built for portrait: one character fills the screen and the wardrobe opens beside them.
