The appeal is the collision of two wardrobes that have nothing in common. Wednesday is black, structured and severe. Enid is colour, texture and everything at once. Putting them in the same frame is the game.
The story is a breakup, and the styling follows it: Enid has to go from wrecked to composed without turning into somebody else, which in practice means keeping her colour and tightening the shape. Wednesday, meanwhile, does not change, because that is the point of Wednesday. Styling a character who refuses to be styled is an unusual constraint and it makes the pair work.
