Geek chic is a styling problem rather than a costume: the clothes are ordinary, and the look comes from one deliberate wrong note.

Thick frames, a knitted cardigan over a printed tee, a pleated skirt, socks pulled up, flat shoes. Put all of it on at once and you get fancy dress. Put three of those things on a girl who otherwise looks normal and you get the trend. The wardrobe here hands you the pieces and leaves the restraint to you, so two players can dress the same character and only one of them lands it.
